ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Sunday, September 15th

We’re past the halfway point of September and racing toward the end of summer. This is your last Monday of the season, actually. Next Monday is the first full day of fall. I’m a big fan of autumn, but I prefer the first half to the second. After Halloween things get markedly drearier, though we have both Thanksgiving and Christmas to look forward to. Necessary feast days to keep our spirits up, and then a long cold winter. For now, we have a mini crossword to solve!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.

ACROSS

1 — This Across — ONE

4 — This Across — FOUR

6 — Subway costs — FARES

8 — Sound from a goose . . . or a Ram? — HONK

9 — ___ sauce (condiment) — SOY

DOWN

1 — How phones should be in a movie theater, ideally — OFF

2 — Olympic sprinter Lyles — NOAH

3 — Banknotes used in 20 countries — EUROS

5 — Nevada city near Lake Tahoe — RENO

7 — Rhyming place to fly — SKY

I admit the two “This Across” clues had me puzzled—they were too obvious! Other than that, only the Olympic sprinter Lyles had me stumped. I guess I just don’t know enough about sports and athletes these days. Otherwise, this was a breeze. How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
