What Is Stalker 2’s Plot?

Set 20 years after the Chornobyl disaster, Heart of Chornobyl sees you play as a titular Stalker, scouring the mutant and hazard-filled realm in search of bizarre, highly valued anomalies as you fend off rival factions. The Stalker series is heavily inspired by the Russian novel Roadside Picnic and its 1979 film adaptation.

Despite being the fourth game in the Stalker series, Heart of Chornobyl endured a tumultuous development cycle, suffering from several cancellations, delays, and even an engine change since its 2010 announcement. However, Heart of Chornobyl is shaping up to be a fantastic blend of horror, shooter, and sim that will engross even the most seasoned adventurers.

It features the series’ first seamless open world, giving you a truly expansive map. Likewise, the enemy AI has been refined to challenge and stalk you across the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, making ammo and supply management all the more crucial. To cap it off, you must be vigilant of the supernatural elements that can burn, melt, or poison hapless Stalkers who don’t carefully observe their surroundings.
